In this project my aim was to design and develop an innovative room divider which incorporates structural elements, consist of lightweight materials and which will also be influenced by digital fabrication. Using various means of inspiration in order to ideate and develop the room divider, the final outcome is influenced by the leaves of a water lily. The way in which the shadows and levels of petals the water lily achieves through its multiple layers of petals was what inspired the overall form and effect of the layers which make up the form. I will show through my portfolio how I have developed the idea into a final manufacturable outcome through my design process.
